The purpose of this course is to provide theoretical understanding of the impact of psychological trauma and maltreatment. Students will become familiar with the impact and nature of a wide variety of trauma. Students will learn about empirically based and clinically based treatments for trauma survivors with acute as well as complex PTSD. Attention will also be given to vicarious traumatization and caring for the caregiver.
